SAMSUNG REFRIGERATOR
Unlike many foreign companies, Samsung entered the
consumer market and launched their frost-free range of
refrigerator. The refrigerator is in the high price bracket
keeping in consideration the aesthetics of the refrigerator
besides the technology. But there is a problem. The
good-looking plastic shelves and the chiller door are so
fragile. The plastic trays crack over a period of time and the
hinges of the chiller door breaks very fast. The company
initially replaced, but when the complaint persisted, their
service engineers unofficially accepted that there was a
problem and the plastic material used is very brittle.
Getting ragged with repeated complaints and under
instructions from their superiors to stop this nuisance of no.
of complaints, they started replaced these shelves with the
wire mesh shelves. These wire mesh shelves are poor in
construction and looks. They do not go with the total
aesthetics of the refrigerator for which a consumer has paid a
high price vis-à-vis to other brands. The company was
approached to replace these shelves with a better quality
product, but they are not ready to improve upon the quality.
The company executives are now implicating on the
consumer that it is they who asked for replacement of the
plastic shelves to these wire shelves.
