the biggest cheats

To enhance sales of their color TV sets,  Videocon came out with a novel scheme.  Exchange your old color TV in running condition and pay a nominal amount that will be refunded after five years. To elaborate - Say buy 21'' color TV for an approx. amount of Rs. 9000. The company will issue a BOND that will be redeemable after five years.

It has been found that 5 years  have  passed and the company has neither issued the BONDS nor refunded the amount promised.  Letters and reminders to the company about the status of issue of the said bonds/refunds, are not being replied back.

These industrialists have not  become rich by fair game. They have made money by playing with the funds of public as above. Our Govt. is also a part of it to give shelter to such cheats.

The extent of damage done to the consumer is that the company had collusion  with the MRTPC. The Monopolies & Restrictive Trade Practices Commission has closed the case, filed with them by us without giving any hearing to us. The matter was reported to the Police, but they too have not taken any cognizance of the same.

The case filed with the District Consumer Court is pending for pronouncement of the judgment.
